Yoma3 COX'S BAZAR, Bangladesh, July 27 (Reuters) - Bangladeshi forces wounded and captured two Myanmar rebels in a gunbattle on Wednesday in a forest between the two countries, security officials said. Fighting erupted when Bangladeshi troops raided a camp to flush out foreign rebels from the forest near Alikkong, 430 km (269 miles) southeast of the capital Dhaka. The captured rebels, who were shot during the battle, said they were members of Arakan Liberation Front fighting for independence of Arakan, a western state of Myanmar. Bangladesh forces have been carrying out operations in border forests over the past month to flush out Myanmar rebels, who often take refuge in Bangladeshi territory. In the past month, Bangladeshi forces have captured 28 Myanmar rebels and destroyed a number of camps. Rebel groups with different political ideologies, and operating in Myanmar's western state of Arakan, often set up temporary camps in Bangladesh to escape raids by Myanmar forces. Bangladesh and Myanmar share a 320-km (200-mile) border.
